Osborne Appointments are recruiting for an exciting new opportunity to work as a Production Manager on a Permanent basis for our client in Hoddesdon.

JOB TITLE: Production Manager

PLACE OF WORK: Hoddesdon

SALARY: Negotiable Depedant on experience

HOURS OF WORK 7.30am to 4.45pm Monday to Thursday
and Friday 7.30am to 2pm (some flexibility will be required)

Overview: Reporting to the Head of production you will have Overall responsibility for the whole assembly production line.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Take overall responsibility for the whole assembly production line in the factory.
  • Work closely with line managers to achieve production targets.
  • Work closely with R&D / Bespoke Manager on new developments and innovations
  • Work as part of the management team to share ideas and improve operation
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and discussions with the management team to resolve issues.
  • Ensure production targets are being met
  • Planning, scheduling, monitoring and execution of the factory production process
  • Ensuring production volumes and product quality are at a high level.
  • Ensure daily targets and quality standards are met.
  • Liaison with the Head of Production to ensure correct maintenance and cleanliness of the factory environment.
  • Analysis of the production processes and communication of any improvements thought to be able to enhance the efficiency.
  • Analysis of the requirements of production and the staffing levels necessary.
  • Propose any additions to staffing or machinery either to improve the quality or volumes produced.
  • Liaison with managers/supervisors on a continuous basis to help the production line work efficiently.
  • Analyse production and quality control to detect and correct problems
  • Keep up to date and complying with Health and Safety Requirements
  • Accept responsibility and take ownership of problems
  • investigate reasons and come up with solutions when quality levels fall below expected levels
  • Cover any Managers holiday or sick leave in the factory as part of the management team and to assist in any areas as and when required.

People Management

  • Motivating employees to continually achieve targets.
  • Provide support and guidance to all employees.
  • Give useful feedback to employees to help them perform better
  • Encourage your direct reports employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals.
  • Create good working relationships with the Factory Management Team.
  • Overall responsible that new employees are fully inducted and trained in the role.
  • Ensure all staff within the factory are following the correct process and procedures
  • Manage day to day staff issues - walking the floor to identify and deal with as required and escalating up when appropriate.
  • Work with HR and Head of Production on all employee issues such as Grievances, Disciplinarians and performance issues.
  • Conduct appraisals & reviews
  • Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere
  • Lead by example and be a role model for your team by demonstrating high standards of behaviour, honesty, and integrity
  • Ensure staff are working safely to comply with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Work with HR staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ staff.

Successful applicant should have:

  • Worked in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of running an assembly line
  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • Work study knowledge of manufacturing principles
  • Able to contribute to improvements in efficiency and productivity
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
